Meet Dr. Shyam Shivareddy, known to patients as Dr. Sam. An accomplished dentist, he earned his Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery before being accepted into the prestigious D.D.S. program at New York University College of Dentistry. But Dr. Sam didn’t stop there. He is dedicated to maintaining his expertise in all areas of dentistry by actively participating in continuing dental education courses. That means he stays on top of the latest developments, which he then translates into quality care for patients like you.
Dr. Sam’s commitment to excellence and love for his community extend beyond his private practice in downtown Hartford, CT. He also proudly serves as a major in the U.S. Army, where he has been recognized with the U.S. Army Achievement Medal. As a way to give back with his skills, he selflessly volunteers for 15 days each year, offering free dental services to underprivileged individuals.
Whether you seek a complimentary second opinion, need professional guidance, or just want to find a new dental home, you are welcome at Purple Dental. Dr. Sam has worked hard to make sure his practice is the ideal choice for your dental needs. He’s ready and excited to get to know you and improve your smile.
Growing up with doctors and dentists in the family, with a natural inclination toward science and how the body functions, and with a mother who was very artistic, Dr. Poornima (Nima) thought that dentistry seemed exciting. She is inspired by helping people get out of pain, improving their smiles, and building relationships with those around her. Every day, she brings to Purple Dental her ability to connect with and help people, attention to detail, knowledge, skills, and experience.
Hailing from Boston University and KLE University, Dr. Nima holds multiple degrees in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Along with completing a mastery series in sleep apnea from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), she’s an active member of the Connecticut State Dental Association, Hartford Dental Association, American Dental Association, and AADSM.
As an active member and resident of the Glastonbury community for the past years, Dr. Nima participates in local small business activities, volunteers, and provides service to the aging population in senior living facilities. She’s incredibly passionate about oral surgery, helping those in need, and educating children, and has served with Mission of Mercy in Guatemala.
Outside of the office, she enjoys reading, hiking, practicing yoga, traveling, and painting with water colors as well as spending time with her daughter (Maanya), dog (Maaya), and husband (Dr. Sam).
